You were sandwiched between two forces but you appeared on the battle field.
You weighed the options and gave it your all; that was a commendable fight. A fight against laziness, against settling for what was available and ignoring what was possible and attainable, and against quitting. Whatever the outcome was, you emerged victorious. Even if it seems like you were just getting by and time just slipped through your fingers.
Maybe you didn’t go home with the ultimate prize but if you appeared on the battlefield and gave it your all, that counts as victory.
Maybe you didn’t stop a war between two nations but if you stopped negative thoughts from invading your mind, you stopped yourself from following the path that you know leads to a dead end, and you walked past gossip that could potentially harm your mind and waste your time, that counts as victory.
Maybe you didn’t blow the whistle about a looming pandemic but if you took a step towards your dreams, that counts as victory….Victory isn’t always physical. Sometimes it your appearance on the battlefield, your choice to avoid a particular place, person, or situation.
Your choice to go one way, sometimes on a path of uncertainty and least acceptance.
Sometimes it is your silence in situations that do not deserve your voice.
Sometimes it is your absence in places where you are treated in an inhuman manner.
Sometimes it is speaking up against and in the midst of noise.
Sometimes it is distancing yourself from people who don’t deserve anything about you.
Sometimes it is fighting again instead of giving up.
Victory is what you carry in your hands, heart, and mind. Sometimes the signs of victory are seen, other times they are felt.
