You won’t move forward if you pity yourself…because self-pity makes you its prisoner. Self-pity gives solid reasons of staying where you are; tells you not to put in any work and convinces you that at the very least, you will have an explanation why you never made any sort of change in your life should anyone ask. Self-pity gets you the attention of a few, and diminishes your capabilities.
You won’t heal if you keep talking about the depth of the pain or using it to get the attention of masses. You won’t heal if you keep blaming them for what they did or didn’t do or hoping they will apologize. At some point you have to break the attachment to them, shut them out of your mind and cleanse your heart. Forgive them for what they did and didn’t do, whether they apologize or not. You lived through the pain and can live without it.
You won’t heal if you keep hoping that someday, the sun will shine and good will come out of the suffering. Sure, hope is essential but without effort, your life may remain as it is. At some point, you have to take matters in your hands. You have to confront everything to get different results.
One day, the scars won’t hurt or bleed but you have to tend to them. One day, the light of the sun will wipe out the darkness that may be in my life, but you have to look for the light.
