People change because it is necessary, either they are forced to or not.
This is who I am…..
I am an observer.
I am a keen listener.
I am a good learner.
So don’t blame me for learning and taking to heart everything that you were teaching me. Save that breath and energy.
Don’t blame me for the way I turned out to be. Don’t blame me for getting accustomed to your absence and finally learning how to do everything alone.
Don’t blame me for searching for light when I realised you had left me in the dark. Or for warming my skin when I realized keeping you was only making me cold and bitter.
Don’t blame me for learning how to warm my bed because you were too busy and cold to make it habitable.
Don’t blame me for everything that I learned when you were gone; to enjoy solo dates, rekindle my laughter by watching comedy movies, and occupy the space you left…because that’s what people who love and value themselves do. They stay where they are valued. They protect their hearts from being hurt. They take charge of their lives.
I am an observer. I am a keen listener. I am a good learner. I read the energy. I listen to the spoken and unspoken vibes. I watch the body language. I see and feel the coldness of hands, eyes, and skin. I react as I see fit.
I took another road because you made mine rocky. I looked the other way because you blew dust my way. You no longer feel the warmth of my skin because you are still holding ice in your hands. You are no longer part of my life because I wasn’t part of yours.
That’s what happens when you show people who you are; they see you as you are. That’s what happens when you teach people to look elsewhere, they do.
